Women’s Six Nations: Debutant Nikita Prothero and her ambitions for Wales

“It’s unbelievable to get a cap. I didn’t really expect it this early, especially with the Six Nations being the toughest tournament,” Prothero said.

“I was absolutely buzzing and getting my cap in front of my family, my friends, it was really special.

“I’m really happy that she (Lynn) believes in me and obviously sees something in me.”

Prothero hopes to push for selection in Wales’ final Six Nations game at home to Italy on Sunday (12:15 BST), but admits he may have to bide his time.

“I think they’re looking at me as a full-back which might not suit me in terms of getting a cap because Kayleigh (Powell) is playing out of her skin,” he said.

“We’re very different, he’s got a kicking game and I’ll never get past him because I’m not just a playmaker, but I give myself back in terms of my confidence to beat people and my aerial stuff.

“I don’t mind playing as long as everyone has confidence in who they are playing and I am doing what is best for the squad.

“If I’m not the best for the squad right now, I hope I can be soon.”
