She added that 20% of tickets go to New Yorkers to recognize that they are “helping host the world.”
Elsewhere, fans traveling to Foxborough, Boston, are facing a fight. More than 300% increase in the cost of transportation.
Round-trip tickets from central Boston (South Station) to Boston Stadium in Foxborough usually cost $20 (£15), but fans will pay $80 (£60) during the World Cup.
Prices in New Jersey and Foxborough will hit English and Scottish fans.
The Three Lions will play Ghana on June 23 in Foxboro, followed by Panama on June 27 at the MetLife Stadium.
Steve Clarke’s Scotland have two games in Foxborough – against Haiti on June 13 and Morocco on June 19.
Kansas City is offering return bus tickets to the stadium for $15, while Philadelphia has confirmed that the usual $2.90 price will remain the same for the game.
