Ikea’s New Designer Collection Is Home-Office Heaven

Meanwhile, Ikea’s new flexible lamp marks the Swedish brand’s first collaboration with designer Lex Pott, who wanted to create a “folding lamp,” and did so by placing 45-degree swivel points in the light stop to create a metal lamp that changes from a spotlight to a floor light or reading light.

Mikael Axelsson, who designed the classic chair for Ikea, has also created some of our favorite items from PS 2026: a stool with teeth made of wood made of simple woodworking tools that works as a low-cost way to change the height that is also fun and symmetrical. As with his pushchair, Axelsson enlisted his four daughters to try different moves to nail the lever system, and found that basic design only encouraged his children to use it more.

Wihlborg also created a beautiful bedside table from pine that draws attention from traditional birdhouses, an idea that is thought to have come to Wihlborg while walking in his garden. The table, which has a familiar birdhouse hole in the front, hides storage behind a hinged door, which also makes the birdhole a connector.

Looking to set up a home office on a budget, the collection includes a four-seater table or desk by Wihlborg, designed to be sturdy for everyday use, but able to be rolled up if needed via a pair of signature red wings.

Wihlborg has also designed a pink metal mesh and glass door cabinet with adjustable feet and shelves, an integrated light cable connector, and cutouts in the handles for easy closing. Pott has added to the chic office with a trolley made of powder-coated steel that is strangely reminiscent of a wedding cake. Color-matched wheels mean this can be rolled around with you as you move around the work area.

Krupińska has also created another WIRED favorite, a steel and aluminum table clock that looks like an underwater periscope — perfect for sitting on a flat desk and making sure you’re not late for your next meeting.

At the beginning of the 1990s when Ikea decided that it wanted to return to its roots and the beauty of Scandinavian simplicity. The result in 1995 was Ikea PSthe first by repeated collection of pieces at low prices but with added skill. The 2026 edition is the 10th release of PS.
