Simakan. Pinto was a Derby champion and mistakes are part of football

Al-Nasr defender Mohamed Simakan of France was keen to spare his Brazilian counterpart Bento Matheus after a disastrous error against Al-Hilal in the Al-Alami goalkeeper’s Round of 32 derby in the Roshen League.

Al-Nasr were in front throughout the match with a goal by France’s Mohamed Simakan in the 37th minute of the first half.

While Al-Nasr and its fans were celebrating Roshan’s first league title in 7 years, Pinto made a disastrous mistake to disrupt the derby night.

In the 9th and last minute of stoppage time, Al Hilal had a strong throw in the penalty area, but Pinto failed to appreciate it and very strangely turned it into the goal.

“Pinto was a hero on Derby night. He stopped a lot of difficult balls and was able to defend our goal.”

He added: “Mistakes are part of football and we have to support it. We are at the top of the table and we have a chance to win the league title in the next round.”

“We played a great match and Al-Nasr were close to winning the title, but unfortunately we conceded in the last minute and I thank the fans for their support.”
