Pinto disaster deprives Jesus of all-time Derby record

Portugal’s Jorge Jesus, the manager of Al Nasr, failed to achieve a historic record that came close to being set as the Riyadh derby against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal ended in a 1-1 draw in the Saudi Roshen League round of 32 on Tuesday night.

The draw delayed victory for several numbers and achievements Al-Nasr were looking to achieve on the night of the crown, after the team came close to officially wrapping up the league race before Al-Hilal grabbed a late goal that sent the clash back to the finals.

According to the Opta Football Statistics Network, Jesus almost became the first manager to win the Riyadh derby with both teams.

Jesus had previously beaten Al-Nasr more than once with Al-Hilal in various domestic competitions and he came close to repeating the feat in tonight’s clash, but Pinto’s error denied him.

Al-Hilal took their tally to 78 points, 5 points behind Al-Nasr (83), while Al-Alami have a golden chance to clinch the title if they beat Damaq in the last round.
