The Brazilian goalkeeper made a fatal mistake in the last seconds
Brazilian Pinto, the goalkeeper of Al-Nasr, has become the victim of his team’s fans after a fatal error in the last seconds of the Riyadh derby against arch-rivals Al-Hilal.
Al-Hilal drew with Al-Nasr 1-1 at the Al-Awal Park Stadium on Tuesday in a Rushen League Round 30 encounter.
Al-Nasr led with a clear goal until the final seconds of the match, but Pinto made a fatal mistake as he failed to cope with long throws and deflected the ball into his own net.
The goal ended the match in a positive 1-1 draw and delayed Al-Nasr’s crowning of the Saudi League title, needing to win their last game at the expense of Damak or Al-Hilal going down in one of the games against NEOM and Al-Fayha.
The fatal error sparked a massive attack from Al-Nasr fans on the Brazilian goalkeeper, as Ali Al-Salami wrote: “Thank God anyway. May God forgive you, Pinto.”
He added: “In the Super Final, I lost the championship to Al-Nasr with a stupid mistake in the last seconds, and today I lost to Al-Nasr to officially decide the championship with a stupid and simple mistake, so the decision was postponed until the last round.”
Another fan wrote: “Pinto did everything for 97 minutes against Al Hilal before strangely destroying everything at the last second.
While the third fan wrote: “Binto is a ticking time bomb. He knocked us out of every tournament in the same way. He cannot evolve or change. This is Pinto, a trained player, not a talented player.”
Pinto recalled last year’s Saudi Super Cup final against Al-Ahly on August 23, which ultimately led to the loss of the title.
With Al-Nasr leading 2-1, Pinto miscued a corner kick in the 89th minute and another Brazilian, Al-Ahli defender Roger Ibanez, equalized as the latter won the title on penalties.
