Interesting comment from Flick on Yamal raising the Palestinian flag

A shot of Lamin Yamal waving a Palestinian flag during Barcelona’s celebration of this season’s Spanish league title has sparked widespread reactions around the world, after the photo topped social media and international media.

However, the scene was not welcomed by the coach of the team, Hansi Flick, who clearly expressed his position during the press conference before the confrontation with Deportivo Alaves in the championship.

I do not prefer this behavior

The German coach said in his statements. “These are things that I normally don’t like,” he added. “I spoke to Lamine and told him that what he did was his personal decision. He has become an adult and is responsible for his choices.”

Flick explained that his priority remains to focus on football, saying: “We dedicate ourselves to playing football and we have to consider what people expect from us. When you see the fans crying with joy, you understand why we’re here, and that’s the most important thing for me, the highest priority.”

Mixed feelings

At the end of the speech, Flick reflected on his feelings during the celebratory procession, noting that he experienced “special and poignant” moments in which the joy of the coronation mingled with the sadness of his father’s recent death.
