Barcelona are jubilant after winning the Spanish league title with an emphatic victory over Real Madrid in El Clasico at the Spotify Camp Nou last Sunday, capping the Catalan side’s season with domestic success and heralding a new step in their sporting blueprint.
The club have officially announced the extension of their German coach Hans Flick’s contract until 30 June 2028 with an option to extend it by a further year, a move that confirms the mutual trust between the two sides after a remarkable season that returned the team to the top of the Liga.
Flick. “The agreement gives me the confidence to continue working”
In a press conference ahead of the match against Deportivo Alaves at the Mendizorosa Stadium, Flick confirmed his contract extension, saying: “I am very happy. This gives me the confidence to continue working for another year or two. I think a lot of coaches will be happy if they sign a contract for 3 or 4 years, but in the case of Barcelona it’s good for us to continue. will make a decision on continuing for an additional year.”
Mutual commitment and European ambitions
The German coach added about his future and the future of the club. “It was a very good agreement for both parties. They showed me that this is where I want to be, and that’s a commitment from us as well. Next season will be more difficult and we will work to achieve new goals and titles. Everyone dreams of the Champions League and we will try again. I am grateful.”
