One of Europe’s biggest clubs has entered the race to sign Polish star Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski as his surprise and new destination in the upcoming transfer window.
Spanish outlet Sport reports that Barcelona are still awaiting a final decision from Lewandowski on an offer to extend his contract for an extra season, while his agent Pini Zahavi is in the Catalan city to examine all available offers.
The Poland striker had stated hours earlier that he would not mind a move to a lower league to continue enjoying football, opening the door to a surprise move as Portuguese media outlets such as Sport TV and Sapo confirmed that Porto were ready to sign the player for a season to compensate for the departure of Luc de Jong.
The information received stated that Porto are interested in bringing Lewandowski along with his country’s future hope, Polish young talent Oskar Pitoszewski, for Lewandowski to serve as his sponsor.
The Portugal squad also includes Polish internationals Jan Bednarek and Jakub Kuyur, who are putting pressure on Lewandowski to accept the offer and play a year as the team’s starting striker.
Lewandowski currently has a lower-wage offer from Barcelona and there is also interest from AC Milan and Juventus in the Italian league, but an offer that could suit him financially and athletically. The Chicago Fire club, which claims to include him, has offered to play in the American League Championship.
In the same context, Saudi League clubs are still interested in his services and have not given up the race to sign him.
