Wordle is being turned into a real-time gaming show

Words it could be the next big game show. NBC has greenlit the sports show The New York Times‘ the popular puzzle game, and will debut in 2027 with Savannah Guthrie as the director. The show will be produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio “in association with” Jimmy Fallon’s production company and NOWaccording to a press release.

Here’s an overview of how “speed mode” will work in game mode, from NOW:

The series will feature teams of players competing to solve five-letter puzzles in high-powered, interactive environments, translating Wordle’s great features into a new kind of visual experience.

Throwing is open it now for three teams. If you want to throw your hat in the ring, you have until May 29th at 8PM ET to enter.

Deadline report last year that Fallon’s company, Electric Hot Dog, was helping with NBC’s pilot for Words show.
