Real Madrid is in internal chaos due to Kylian Mbappé’s recent actions, which “crossed the lines of logic and fueled the anger of everyone within the Royals.”
Spanish magazine Sport says the French striker’s Instagram story, in which he wrote “Hala Madrid” as the team trailed Barcelona 2-0 in the title-winning Clasico, was like a “tasteless joke” that even Real Madrid’s worst enemies couldn’t imagine.
He added that what Mbappe did “wasn’t an accident” but rather reflected his mindset and the behavior of those around him, which put his personal interests ahead of the interests of the club.
Sport explained that Mbappe now lives in his own world, more as a brand than a player in a group system, noting that his departure from the last training session just five minutes before El Clasico, despite the team’s need for him, was “further proof that he makes his own decisions, away from the authority of the club”.
The paper confirmed that Real Madrid were partly to blame for this situation, after they exaggerated their respect for the player since his arrival and celebrated him in an “extremely marketing way” after winning the Golden Boot, in a scene it described as “completely away from the spirit of a club built on teamwork and discipline”.
Sport added that relations between Mbappe and a number of his team-mates, led by Vinicius Junior, are “not good”, whether on or off the pitch, noting that the Frenchman has “imposed himself as an authority in the dressing room”, which has caused tension in the atmosphere.
He also pointed out that his negative stance on the altercation between Chuamini and Valverde and his laughing exit from Valdebebas on the day of the incident increased the intensity of the criticism directed at him.
The newspaper quoted coach Alvaro Arbeloa’s words, commenting on the possibility of Mbappé participating in the remaining 3 matches.
Sport described the announcement as “a clear reflection of the state of chaos and distrust in the Real Madrid dressing room”, stressing that the club is going through one of its most tense periods in recent years and that Mbappe has become “a symbol of the crisis that threatens the stability of the team from within”.
