The title is lost in the chaos
The clash between Slavia Prague and Sparta Prague in the Czech capital was called off yesterday, Saturday, after hundreds of home fans stormed the pitch in the final moments of the match at the Fortuna Arena in Prague as part of a showdown that came close to deciding the league title when Slavia led 3-2 with seconds to go.
According to the details, groups of “Slavia” fans broke through the security barriers during the break and suddenly swept the field. Some of them were carrying firecrackers and running towards the stands of the away fans, creating chaos and disorder in the field.
The stands also witnessed the throwing of inflammable materials while players of both the teams tried to leave the field quickly for their safety amid extreme tension prevailing in the atmosphere.
Police forces quickly intervened to restore order inside and outside the stadium, later confirming that they had launched a criminal investigation into suspected disorder and violence surrounding the events of the match.

In a related context, authorities have confirmed that among those targeted during the events was goalkeeper Jakub Sorowczyk, who plays for “Sparta” Prague, and was injured by fire thrown at him.
For his part, Sorovchik released a statement on social media platforms, in which he said that being in a situation where someone approached and threatened him along with a direct attack during the game was completely unacceptable, emphasizing his intention to take the necessary legal measures.
The referee decided to stop the match officially, while Czech media reported that Sparta’s players later left the pitch with heavy security and a police escort to the team bus, fearing the situation could escalate further.
For his part, Slavia Prague president Jaroslav Tvrdic defended the decision to end the match, stressing that the rival club had reported that one or two of its players had attacked, stressing that the decision to stop the match was the right choice given the circumstances, describing what happened as a “disgrace” that does not befit the sporting scene.
