Elliott Anderson scored a late leveler for his old club Newcastle to draw Nottingham Forest 1-1 and move closer to Premier League safety.
Anderson had to leave his boyhood club in the summer of 2024 due to PSR claims he joined Forest in a £35m deal.
The midfielder has thrived at the City Ground, becoming an England regular Manchester City are in pole position to sign the 23-year-old. And on Sunday, he gifted Newcastle with a fine equalizer in the 88th minute.
Forest points take them seven points above the relegation zone, and if Arsenal beat West Ham on Sunday, Vitor Perera’s side will be mathematically safe.
Substitute Harvey Barnes’ second-half opener left Forest on course for defeat after they were beaten 4-0 at Aston Villa in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday.
But the home side rallied well to equalize late on to extend their Premier League unbeaten run to eight games and end Newcastle’s faint hopes of European qualification.
