FIFA President Gianni Infantino has sent an official congratulatory message to Argentina Football Association President Claudio Tapia despite Spain’s 1-0 extra-time defeat in the 2026 World Cup final.

Infantino ignores the controversy
In his address, Infantino did not address the controversies that have surrounded Argentina’s journey through the tournament, despite criticism from some teams and observers over refereeing decisions that have raised question marks.
