Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has responded to the ongoing controversy over the increase in the number of CAF Champions League clubs from the new Champions League season.

The president of the Egyptian Football Association, Hani Abu Raida, recently made a request to the African Union to increase the number of clubs in the CAF Champions League.and instead of two seats, provide 3 seats for Egyptian clubs.

Egyptian “Zamalek” (League champion) and “Pyramids” (second place) participate in the CAF Champions League in the new season.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Motsepe was asked about the possibility of increasing the number of clubs in the CAF Champions League, he responded by saying:

He added: “This decision has been discussed, but these types of decisions must be approved by the higher authorities that are investigating this case.”
