Speculation in European football circles has run high after French newspaper Liberation revealed Barcelona’s interest in signing 17-year-old right-back David Bolly, one of the hottest rising talents at Paris Saint-Germain’s academy.
Although the international has featured just once in the French Cup this season before suffering an injury against Fontainebleau in December, the idea of his possible move to Spain has sparked a flurry of excitement and speculation, particularly in light of tensions between the two clubs following the move of Catalan talent Drew Fernandez to Paris Saint-Germain in the last winter transfer window.
In Spain, Barcelona’s interest in Bolly has been interpreted as “compensation” or “sporting revenge” against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spanish “Marca” newspaper wrote under a remarkable headline: “Revenge for Drew”, stating that “Barcelona” is going to compete with PSG again in the transfer market, this time for the gem of the Parisian club, David Bolly.
As for El Nacional, it went further, noting that “Barcelona are preparing their revenge in the case of Drew through the talent that PSG are looking to protect”.
“The French club is afraid of losing one of its most valuable players,” wrote Mundo Deportivo, using the word “revenge” that is repeated in the Spanish media.
According to reports, Barcelona scouts watched the player during the Youth League semi-final against Real Madrid, where Poli provided the decisive assist in a game that ended 1-1 before the Madrid team won on penalties (5-4).
In turn, L’Equipe newspaper noted that a number of PSG’s younger generation are considering leaving this summer due to limited opportunities to play in the first team, which could open up a move for Bolly to a club that gives him more room to develop.
The player is entering the final year of his contract with PSG, leaving his future open to all possibilities.

Interest has already been piqued in Spain, with Sport publishing a collection of his most famous strikes against Real Madrid, while Mundo Deportivo devoted a detailed technical analysis to his style of play, noting that “he has a combination of speed and tactical intelligence that makes him a top-class European full-back project”.
While Paris Saint-Germain remain tight-lipped about their youngster’s future, a new clash between Barcelona and the Parisian club appears to be on the horizon, this time not in the Champions League, but in the market for the promising talent shaping the future of European football.
